AI-generated designs can look convincing. Hardware, however, lives in the real world: it is dropped, heated, loaded, assembled, and touched by people. Visual plausibility is not engineering validity.

Text-to-CAD benchmarks show that current models are improving, but complex topology and advanced features remain hard. AI output should therefore be treated as a candidate, not a final design.

  • Check load paths and stress concentration.
  • Review fasteners, hinges, ribs, clips, and interfaces.
  • Make manufacturing assumptions explicit.
  • Compare material behavior under heat, fatigue, creep, and impact.
  • Use physics-in-the-loop and V&V evidence before trusting the result.
